Urbanization Dynamics in Sudan and Greater Khartoum. Anthropological Insights on Identity Issues and Socio-spatial Justice
MOHAMED A. G. BAKHIT has a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Bayreuth (Germany). The title of his 2015 thesis is : Identity and Lifestyles Construction in Multi-Ethnic Shantytowns : A Case Study of Al-Baraka Community in Khartoum, Sudan. Since 2010 he has been a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at the University of Khartoum, where he is today Head Department and Associated Professor. His main research interests are identity change, urbanization, minority groups, and citizenship.

MUNZOUL A.M. ASSAL has a PhD in Anthropology from Bergen University (Norway). The title of his 2004 thesis is : Sticky Labels or Rich Ambiguities ? Diaspora and Challenges of Homemaking for Somalis and Sudanese in Norway. He is Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology and Deputy Director of the Peace Research Institute at the University of Khartoum. Since 2009, he is the coordinator for the Sudanese partner of the Scientific Agreement between the University of Khartoum and University Paris 8. His research focuses on refugees, IDPs, humanitarianism and citizenship.
